About the Unitree G1 Gantry Support
The Unitree G1 gantry support is the official overhead support frame for the G1 humanoid robot — a freestanding wheeled frame whose overhead boom carries the roughly 35 kg robot on a winch-driven cable and hook, so it stays secure while it walks, stumbles and recovers during development. You may also see it listed as the G1 protection frame or the G1 debugging protection bracket: one product, one version, several names.
Humanoid development means falling. Locomotion policies fail mid-stride, new gait code produces unexpected steps, and a 35 kg robot meeting a hard lab floor can turn a test run into a repair. With the G1 held from above in the frame, the robot stays recoverable through every failed iteration — protecting both the hardware and the people working next to it.

What Is the Unitree G1 Gantry Support?
The Unitree G1 gantry support is a freestanding frame on casters: a vertical mast carries an overhead boom, and a hand winch pays out a steel cable with a hook at the boom's end. The G1 clips to the hook and hangs secure from above — a failed step or a sudden power-down never becomes a fall to the floor. Winch the cable in or out to set the working height, from feet-on-floor walking tests to a full lift for hands-on adjustments.
Across retailers the same frame appears under several names — G1 gantry, G1 gantry support, G1 protection frame and G1 debugging protection bracket. They all refer to this one official Unitree accessory; there is no separate protection frame product to cross-shop.

Every G1 EDU ships with one gantry support included, and most retailers list the G1 Basic the same way — so a new G1 may already have this frame in its crate. If yours came without one, or your lab needs a second frame at another bench, this is the same official unit sold separately.
Why G1 Labs Run Development Inside a Gantry
Early locomotion work is where humanoids get hurt. A reinforcement learning policy exploring a new gait falls often and without warning, and each fall risks bent joints, cracked shells and worse. Running those sessions with the robot on the gantry removes the consequence of failure: the robot can stumble, catch itself or simply hang from the boom while the code keeps iterating.
The same frame earns its floor space in calmer work too. Calibration, hardware integration tests and mechanical adjustments all go faster when the roughly 35 kg robot is held steady at working height — no second pair of hands keeping it upright, and no propping it against a bench between tweaks.
Which Robots Does the Unitree G1 Gantry Support Fit?
The Unitree G1 gantry support is purpose-built for the G1 humanoid platform and fits every configuration of it: the G1 Basic and all G1 EDU variants. It is not a shared fit with Unitree's other humanoids — the R1, H1 and H2 are different platforms — and the Go2 quadruped uses its own dedicated protection bracket.
