The early runs are the dangerous ones. A Go2 learning a new gait or exploring a reinforcement learning policy falls often, and a fall on a hard lab floor can end a training session with a bent joint or a cracked shell. Running the robot inside the protection bracket keeps those falls from becoming repairs.
That is the bracket's intended territory: posture development, movement control research and gait debugging, where the robot must be free to move and fail safely. Routine walking in open space needs nothing of the kind — the bracket earns its floor space when the work is experimental.
Unitree lists the bracket as an official accessory optional for the Go2 EDU. The same bracket fits the Go2 Air, Go2 Pro and Go2 EDU Plus, which share one body size. The wheeled Go2-W does not take this bracket; it has its own dedicated version.
