Overview

About the Inspire LAF10 Linear Servo Actuator

Inspire LAF10 linear servo actuator feature callouts: 10 mm stroke, M3 threaded rod-end interface options and integrated force sensor for force feedback

The Inspire LAF10 linear servo actuator is a micro force-controlled actuator with a 10 mm stroke — a coreless motor, precision planetary reducer, lead screw and closed-loop controller integrated in a 29 g body, with a built-in force sensor that reads push and pull force in real time. This listing is the LAF10-024D, the 70 N variant that drives the fingers of Inspire's dexterous hands.

Buyers come to the Inspire LAF10 linear servo actuator for two reasons: as a replacement finger actuator for an Inspire dexterous hand — including the hands fitted on Unitree humanoids — or as an off-the-shelf force-controlled linear drive for their own gripper or precision automation build. The sections below cover both.

Force Control

What the F Adds: a Force Sensor in the Loop

The Inspire LAF10 linear servo actuator builds a high-precision force sensor into the push rod path, reading push and pull force across a −100 N to +100 N range at 1 N resolution — so a controller can close the loop on force, not just position. A gripper can press until it feels a set force and hold it there, instead of driving to a position and hoping.

Position is handled by a built-in absolute encoder: the actuator knows where the rod is at power-on, with no homing move and no position loss after a power cut. Motor, planetary reducer, lead screw, sensors and controller all ship inside one 77 mm-class body — there is no external driver to wire.

  • Built-in force sensor — real-time push/pull force detection and closed-loop force control
  • Absolute position encoder — no homing, no position loss on power-off
  • Fully integrated: motor, reducer, screw, sensors and controller in one body
Family Guide

LA, LAF or LASF? Picking from the Same Family

Inspire's 10 mm-stroke micro actuators come in three flavors of the same family. The LA10 is the base position-controlled actuator. The LAF10 — this page — adds the built-in force sensor for push-pull force closed-loop control. The LASF10 is the higher-force sibling of the same idea, built for jobs like driving the thumb of a dexterous hand.

If your mechanism needs to feel how hard it is pushing — gripping, pressing, compliant motion — you want the Inspire LAF10 linear servo actuator, not the LA10. If you need clearly more force than the LAF10 offers, look at the LASF10 instead.

Speed Levels

Where the LAF10-024D Sits: Speed Level 02 vs 07

The Inspire LAF10 linear servo actuator family comes in speed levels built from the same body, sensor package and 10 mm stroke — what changes is the gearing. This listing is the LAF10-024D, the level-02 variant that trades speed for force; level 07 does the opposite.

In Dexterous Hands

The Finger Actuator of Inspire's Dexterous Hands

Every Inspire RH56-series dexterous hand is driven by six micro linear servo actuators: the four fingers each run an Inspire LAF10 linear servo actuator — the 70 N LAF10-024D sold here — while the thumb's two drives use the higher-force LASF10-024D. A hand that has lost a finger usually needs exactly one of these, sold per unit.

Those hands are the dexterous-hand option on Unitree humanoids — the RH56DFQ on the G1 EDU higher tiers and H2-D, the tactile RH56DFTP on the G1 EDU Ultimate, H1 and H2 — so the LAF10-024D is also the finger-level spare for the Inspire hands on those robots.
